Festival Highlights in Glasgow
During the main Festival period, 17 May - 3 June, Glasgow was brimming with design-minded walks, talks, tours, exhibitions and happenings.
Tramway hosted the massive Six Cities Design Festival exhibition, Airworld: Design and Architecture for Air Travel. A Vitra Design Museum exhibition, Airworld looked at the specific aesthetic of commercial air travel, showcasing stylish hostess uniforms, cabin and airport interiors, and aircraft design.
Glasgow is made by us asked Evening Times readers what they would like to see changed in their city and proposed design solutions in an engaging exhibition at The Lighthouse. Glasgow is made by us also included fun interventions and lively debates throughout the public spaces in the city’s centre. The Scottish Show 07 filled the rest of the Lighthouse, including the corridors and shop. With work by 34 top Scottish designers and an amazing line-up of workshops for all ages, the Scottish Show 07 is the most comprehensive exhibition of Scotland’s world-class design talent ever. The Scottish Show 07 is on view until 12 August.
Our Designer Double Bill talk with Hella Jongerius and Peter Inglis of 4C Design was an incredible evening, as was our Success by Design talk with Joe Ferry, Head of Design at Virgin Atlantic. Stefan Sagmeister, the mastermind behind the Six Cities Design Festival monkey project, also gave a thrilling talk.
